Computers
Hardware
- The
Keyboard Connection - A site containing reviews and information
for keyboard connoisseur (true geeks :).
- Ars Technica - A well run
hardware site. One of the more useful features are the buyer's
guides (which recommend various hardware components for anyone
interested in assembling their own PC).
- Sharky Extreme - An often
updated site with lots of useful information.
- Tom's Hardware Guide - A
good site concerning PC performance and hardware tweaks.
Software
- Linux Systems Labs - A Linux-oriented
site offering substantial discounts on software and books.
Games
- Action Quake2! - An
extremely fun mod for Quake 2.
- Gamecenter
- A source of game news, demos, and product reviews.
- Gamers eXtreme - A nice source
of game news.
- GameSpot
- Yet another source of game news, demos, and reviews.
- NetHack
- In my opinion, one of the coolest computerized role-playing games
ever. I haven't seen any other game contain as much depth of
play as this game has.
- XEvil - A sidescrolling
kill-everything-you-see type of game. Not for wussies.
- Xpilot - A very cool
multiplayer space war game for X windows.
News
General
- CNN Interactive - A well done
site from Mr. Turner's empire.
- the ONION - An unusually
funny "news" site. Stay away if you're easily offended.
Computer related
- Hardware.PairNET.com - A choice
site, offering links to the latest computer hardware news.
- NEWS.COM - Rewritten wire feed?
- PC Magazine - Somewhat useful
at times (if you're into advertiser-driven media).
- Slashdot.org - A pro-Linux news
site with good coverage.
Other places to procrastinate
- Scott Duff
- He (and Pat) introduced me to the Web and HTML in the first
place (along with Linux and Perl), so I guess I should like, put a
link to his page, eh?
- HERMANN HATES Web Archives
- Read this stuff. Its funny.
- Sniper Country
- Happiness is a confirmed kill!
- School Sucks
- Having trouble with that paper? Before you pull an all-nighter, why
not look here...
Search Engines
- AltaVista - Digital's
too-much-crap (at times) search engine.
- ComputerESP - Shopping
for new computer equipment? Try this computer product "street" price
search engine first.
- Price Watch(TM)
- Another "street" price search engine. Although a slower and
less-attractive site than ComputerESP, it offers a nice second-opinion.
Be forewarned though, they don't police the input prices as well as
ComputerESP.
- Yahoo! - Do you get excited easily?
